Dancer, By A.C Mirval This wonderful Bronze deco sculpture is a patinated and enameled bronze and ivory sculpture. The head and hands are of carved ivory. The level of detail is amazing on the bronze and the textures vary drastically. From the smoothness of the face to the rough texture on parts of the clothing this is a truly wonderful sculpture. The movement and shawl of the piece is classic. The graceful Mexican hat dancer is placed atop a white onyx and gray marble rectangular base. This sculpture is inscribed C. Mirval au dos. Height is 66cm ( 27 1/4in). This wonderful representation of twentieth century sculpture has been sold through Sotheby's for 45,600.00 EUR in 2006. A.C. Mirval was a French sculpture (fl.1900s-1930s). His sculptures were cast in bronze and usually consisted of stylized human figures in the Deco mode.
