George Douglas Brewerton (1827-1901) , a warm pastel on paper, framed in a slim gold and black laquer frame under satin glass.  This scene depicts a spring stream falling into a vanishing point .  Brewerton is a well recognized artist in the Hudson River school who eschewed oils for pastel.  His capability in this medium is fascinating and this piece show his skill.
