A delightful arm from a bygone era. 10 bore fully rifled 24" barrels, express sights for 50, 100,150 yards, solid rib, eyes for a sling on barrel and stock. Rebounding hammers with external locks. The grip and forend are checkered, the pistol grip is capped, double triggers. The rib is marked as follows: " J. Purdy & Sons Audley House South Audley St. London W.", Serial number: 11661(Circa 1882), Marked for black powder. Condition: Overall, this arm exhibits a grey patina with shades of case coloring showing on the breech and lock plates. The stock and forend appear to have been refinished and there is some streaking and overfinish on the barrels indicating some attempt at finish restoration there. The action is tight and the bore is bright and excellent.
