“S. NORTH/MIDDtn/CONN/1847” sharply stamped on the breechblock of this Model 1843, HALL’S patent carbine, in 52 caliber, smooth bore. The original brown finish on both barrel and frame is in excess of 95%. The hammer retains about 50% case colors, while the lever shows about 20+% case colors. The bore is excellent, as is the wood stock, which bears, in deep, oval cartouches, “GWH” on the left side and “WAT” on the right side. There is a crack in the wood, just behind the tang (probably from firing) but does not effect the collectability of this fine specimen of an Mexican War period carbine
