MODEL 1893 SPANISH MAUSER (Possible prototype test rifle), s/n 7064, 1303 on the stock, 2398 on the magazine floor plate, bolt not numbered. 25 ½” barrel with a moderate bore, 7 mm. Indications that this may be a test rifle are that the barrel length is shorter than normal, the bolt handle has been bent and the barrel is covered with an unusual shroud at the front of the barrel.  We have information that a previous owner of the rifle had the headspace checked and it was OK.  This rifle possesses what appears to be a military correct crown.  Other interesting features to this rifle include the lack of a bayonet lug and the presence of a pressure relief hole on the left side of the receiver.Blade front sight and ladder style sight at the rear, the receiver ring marked with the Spanish Crown and “-------DE ARMES/-------/1925”.
